Terms and conditions

Last updated : 1 October 2026

In brief

  • A contract is formed only when you accept a written quote and pay the 30 % deposit.
  • You may move or cancel free of charge more than 5 days before the session, without limiting the statutory withdrawal right.
  • After full payment, phonogram-producer rights in the recording sit with you.
  • We are not a member of a dispute committee. Write to us first; a consumer may then go to court.

1. Scope and how the contract is formed

These terms apply to every service of Sipopojexadvisory B.V., trading as Sipopojexadvisory, of Ruyschstraat 14, 1091 BR Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Chamber of Commerce 98812623, VAT NL876127285B01. Telephone 020 244 1893, e-mail [email protected]. Please read them before you accept a quote.

The contract is formed when you accept a written quote (a signature or an unambiguous e-mail) and the deposit in article 6 has arrived. Visiting the site or sending the contact form does not bind you.

The contract consists, in this order, of the special terms on the accepted quote, these terms and — if you are a professional and you entrust us with third-party personal data — the data processing agreement, which prevails for those data. The privacy policy is attached for information and does not change the contract. If you do not accept these terms, do not accept the quote.

3. Information before you commit

Before you are bound, the site and the quote give you the main features of the service, the price, the date of performance, our identity and contact details, the statutory guarantees and — for a distance contract — the right of withdrawal. That follows from articles 6:230m and 6:230v of the Dutch Civil Code, which implement the EU consumer-rights directive.

Each service page describes the flow, what is included and the rates: Vocal recording, Mixing, Mastering, Podcast recording and Rehearsal room. Practical questions also appear in the FAQ and the guides.

4. Quote and reservation

A request by form, phone or e-mail is answered within 2 working days with a written quote. The quote remains valid for 30 days unless it states another period. The slot is reserved only once acceptance and the deposit have arrived; until then it may go to someone else.

For a distance contract we confirm the reservation on a durable medium (e-mail) with the quote details. We may refuse a request for a legitimate reason, for example a project that does not fit the room, the roster or safety. The live room holds at most 5 musicians at once.

5. Prices

Amounts on the site and on the quote are in euros, including VAT at 21 %. For professionals we also state the net amount. The price that applies is the one on the accepted quote.

Guide prices on the site (including VAT): Vocal recording €98 per hour, €355 for a half day and €645 for a full day; Mixing €195 per track, €115 per hour in studio and €920 for an EP of up to 6 tracks; Mastering €78 per track, €335 for an EP of up to 6 tracks and €595 for an album of up to 12 tracks; Podcast recording €88 per hour, €255 per episode of up to 90 minutes and €1,385 for 6 episodes; Rehearsal room €58 per hour, €205 for 4 hours and €310 for the evening from 18:00 to 22:00.

Time beyond the reserved slot is billed only if you ask for it, per half-hour started, at that service’s hourly rate. Options appear on the invoice only if they are on the quote or you add them in writing. How to size a mix budget is in planning your mix budget.

6. Deposit and payment

On reservation you pay 30 % of the price including VAT. That is a deposit: it is set off against the balance. It is not a retainer that is automatically forfeited, except in the cases in article 7 and without limiting the withdrawal right in article 8.

How you pay (transfer or another method) is stated on the quote. Consumers pay the balance on the session day unless the quote says otherwise. For services we deliver at a distance (Mixing, Mastering) you pay the balance on delivery of the agreed version.

Professionals pay within 14 days of the invoice date. Late payment attracts the statutory commercial interest of article 6:119a of the Dutch Civil Code, plus extrajudicial collection costs under the scale in the Decree on compensation for extrajudicial collection costs.

Until the service is paid in full we may withhold the final files. Working sessions stay archived as article 11 describes.

7. Moving or cancelling by the client

Studio rule on moving and cancelling
When, before the sessionEffect
More than 5 daysMove or cancel without extra charge. On cancellation we refund the deposit within 14 days.
5 days or fewer, or a no-showThe deposit stays with the studio, except in force majeure or while the withdrawal right in article 8 is still open.

Ask to move or cancel by e-mail or phone, and confirm it in writing. Arriving late on the day shortens the slot; we do not extend it if the next slot is taken. This studio rule does not limit the consumer’s statutory withdrawal right.

8. Right of withdrawal

If the contract is concluded at a distance (by e-mail, phone or form) or off-premises, the consumer has 14 calendar days from the conclusion of the contract to withdraw, without giving a reason and without costs other than those below (article 6:230o of the Dutch Civil Code). That right does not apply to a contract you sign at the studio.

If you want the session or the service to start during those 14 days, you must ask for that expressly. If you then withdraw, you pay a proportionate amount for what was supplied up to withdrawal (article 6:230s of the Civil Code). The right is lost for a service that has been fully performed before the period ends, if performance began after your express prior consent and you acknowledged that you would lose the right once the service was fully performed (article 6:230p, opening words and (a), of the Civil Code).

Withdraw with an unambiguous statement by e-mail to [email protected] or by post to Ruyschstraat 14, 1091 BR Amsterdam, the Netherlands, for example using the model below. We refund within 14 days of receiving your decision, by the same means of payment, unless we agree otherwise.

  • Ordered on (*):
  • Name of consumer(s):
  • Address of consumer(s):
  • Signature of consumer(s) (only if this form is notified on paper):
  • Date:

9. Cancellation or change by the studio

If we have to cancel a session (equipment failure, the engineer unavailable, an incident in the building), we tell you as soon as we can and offer a new date. If that date does not work, we refund every amount already paid within 14 days. We do not replace the agreed engineer without your consent.

10. How sessions run

The studio is open Monday–Friday 10:00–19:00, Saturday 11:00–17:00, Sunday closed. Visits are by appointment. How to get here: From Wibautstraat metro station (M51, M53, M54) it is about an 8-minute walk via Wibautstraat and Linnaeusstraat. Trams 3 and 7 stop at Ruyschstraat, roughly 2 minutes on foot. The entrance is at street level next to the bicycle racks. The live room is 28 m² and holds at most 5 musicians. We have 2 vocal booths, 24 microphones and 8 headphone sets.

Bookings start from age 16. Until 18 the legal representative holds the reservation and the payment. Between 16 and 18 we ask for written consent from a parent or guardian.

You treat the rooms and the gear with care and follow the engineer’s instructions. Smoking and vaping in the building are not allowed. We may stop a session if people or equipment are at risk; the reserved slot then remains due, unless the cause lies with us. Damage to studio equipment through your fault or neglect is on you. Gear you bring stays in your care; insuring it is your affair.

For hearing we work at moderate monitoring levels, take breaks and offer earplugs on request. Voice preparation is in vocal warm-up before recording; microphone choice for talk is in podcast mic and room setup.

11. Files, delivery and archive

The delivery format (for example a waveform file or a compressed variant) is stated on the quote. We send a download link or put the files on a drive you supply. Deadlines for Mixing and Mastering run from the moment we have complete, usable source files, and are counted in working days.

We keep a copy of the sessions for 12 months after the last session or delivery, and then delete it. You collect your files in that window and make your own back-up. Longer retention can be agreed in writing. What sits in the files and how rights run is also in session files and rights.

12. Revisions

Mixing and Mastering include 2 revision rounds, as the service pages describe. One round is one bundled list of notes that we handle in a single pass. Extra rounds, or a new artistic direction after approval, first get a new quote.

13. Intellectual property

Your works. The compositions, lyrics and performances you fix remain yours or the authors’. You warrant that you hold the rights needed in the works, texts, samples and covers you use, and you make the filings with collective-management organisations. The studio claims no copyright in your works.

The recordings. The producer of a phonogram is the person who has the initiative and the responsibility for the first fixation, within the meaning of the Neighbouring Rights Act. If you commission and finance the recording, that status sits with you. To the extent the studio could claim rights in the fixation made for you, it assigns them once the service is paid in full.

Performers. Fixing and exploiting a performance needs the performer’s consent. You obtain that consent from the musicians, singers and speakers you bring. The studio supplies the technical work and acquires no right in the work or the performance.

Voice and automation. We do not use your recordings to train artificial-intelligence systems and we do not clone a voice without specific written permission from the person concerned.

References. We mention your name or project as a reference only with your written consent.

14. Liability

We apply the means that belong to careful studio practice. The artistic outcome also depends on your preparation and choices; we do not promise that outcome. Our liability arises only if we are in default, and then for direct loss that was foreseeable when the contract was concluded.

That limit does not apply in case of intent or wilful recklessness, does not apply to personal injury, and does not take statutory rights away from a consumer. Towards professionals, and outside intent or wilful recklessness, our total liability per booking is capped at the price including VAT of the matching quote. Consequential loss, lost profit or lost opportunity is then excluded. The disclaimer covers site information; it does not replace this article.

15. Statutory guarantees

When we supply audio files to a consumer, the Civil Code rules on conformity of digital content apply. If a delivered file is defective or differs from the quote (format, duration, version), tell us; we repair it or deliver it again at no extra charge.

16. Force majeure

Neither party is liable for a failure caused by force majeure within the meaning of article 6:75 of the Dutch Civil Code. The prevented party warns the other as soon as is reasonable. The session is moved to a date chosen together. If the impediment lasts more than 28 days or no date works, either party may dissolve the contract and we refund amounts paid for services not performed.

17. Personal data

We process your data under the privacy policy. If you are a professional and you entrust us with third-party data (guests, musicians, voices), the data processing agreement applies.

The contact form runs through FormSubmit in the United States. That transfer and its safeguards are described in the legal notice and in the privacy policy. To skip the US intermediary, write to [email protected] or call 020 244 1893.

18. Complaints

Send a complaint in writing to [email protected] or to Ruyschstraat 14, 1091 BR Amsterdam. We reply within 2 working days.

Sipopojexadvisory B.V. is not affiliated with a recognised dispute committee. If the dispute remains open, a consumer may go to the competent court, usually the subdistrict court (kantonrechter). Independent information on consumer law is available from the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets or the Juridisch Loket. Those bodies are not mediators we belong to.

19. Governing law and court

Dutch law governs these terms and the contract. A consumer may also, at their choice, sue in the court of the place where they lived when the contract was concluded, or in any other court that mandatory law gives them.

Disputes between professionals go to the competent court in Amsterdam, unless a mandatory rule says otherwise.

20. Final clauses

If a clause is void or avoided, the others remain and we replace the invalid clause with a valid rule closest to its purpose. Not relying on a clause is not a waiver. We may change these terms; the version in force on the day you accepted the quote remains the one for that contract. If there is a translation, the Dutch text prevails.

This version applies from 1 October 2026. Last check: 1 October 2026. Our identity is also in the legal notice.
